NCC 2025 – ST. PETER’S TAKES THE TROPHY AGAIN

It was a watershed moment for St. Peter’s Senior High School (SHS) from the Eastern Region as they emerged winners of the National Cybersecurity Challenge (NCC) champions edition, defending their old title as NCC 2024 champions.

Contesting against St. Monica’s and Ola Girls’ S.H.S at the Cedi conference hall at the University of Ghana, Legon, St. Peter’s SHS won with 70 points, followed by Ola Girls’ SHS with 60 points, and St. Monica’s SHS with 43.5 points. The CSA organised the challenge as part of activities marking the NCSAM 2025.

Speaking at the event, the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, noted the importance of the challenge in building the capacity of children to stay safe online. She highlighted the ministry’s partnership with the CSA to promote Child Online Protection through the Ghanaians Against Child Abuse (GACA) campaign, reaching thousands of students and parents nationwide. She also announced the review of the Children’s Act to address the realities of the digital age for stronger protection of children’s rights in the digital space.

A deputy Director-General of the CSA, Mr. Stephen Cudjoe-Seshie, spoke about the CSA's collaboration with stakeholders to finalise and operationalise a comprehensive industry guideline in alignment with the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038), the Child Online Protection Framework, and the CSA’s Legislative Instrument. He called for stronger multi-stakeholder collaboration across government, the private sector, civil society, the media, academia, and industry to advance Child Online Protection initiatives.

For his part, the Minister of Education, Mr. Haruna Iddrisu, described the NCC as a key strategy for strengthening the resilience of Ghana’s digital ecosystem. He outlined the ministry’s commitment to expand digital literacy by embedding cybersecurity and digital citizenship into the national education curriculum for every child to gain foundational digital knowledge.

For their price, St. Peter’s SHS took home a trophy and a cash prize of GHC 7,000 while Ola Girls’ SHS in second place was awarded a cash prize of GHC 5,000, with St. Monica’s SHS taking home GHC 3,000. The contestants were presented with laptops, certificates, and medals. The Best Performing male and female contestants each received a branded laptop sponsored by GIFEC.
